My name is Gemma Coe and dance has always been my passion. From jazz to tap, ballet to hip hop, contemporary to disco, there is no better way to keep fit and gain enjoyment through exercise. Having danced my whole life and professionally for the last 7 years, I have been lucky enough to perform around the world.
My credits include;
Touring the US with ‘Spirit of the Dance’
Performing onboard cruise ships ‘The Saga Ruby’ and ‘The Voyager’
Dancing among a cast of over 100 at ‘The Thursford Christmas Spectacular’ in Norfolk.
Performing in numerous corporate events
Performing as part of the resident Showteam at ‘Bunn Leisure Holiday Village’ Selsey.
I was also lucky enough to be awarded ‘ENTERTAINMENTS TEAM MEMBER OF THE YEAR 09′ during my time at Bunn Leisure, an accolade which expresses my love for the job and also made me think about changing my focus towards teaching.
Alongside performing I have always continued to teach. I have specialised in teaching wedding couples their first dance for 3 years now and also run after school clubs on some occasions. I am currently working as a choreographer and teacher for Brighton-based company ‘Go Experience’ who offer first class dance/cheer leading and pop video experiences across the country. Please visit the website for further information.
I have also just started to work in collaboration with City Dance. City Dance is an established Brighton-based dance school which offers classes to children in the style of Disco/Freestyle and Street Jazz. In conjunction with the school’s principal Kelly Dennett, I have opened up a new sector within the school.
We now offer Jazz and Musical Theatre classes for children aged 6 and upwards on Saturday mornings in Brighton. Further details can be found on the City Dance website.
I am keen to encourage people to get out in the evening, get a good hour’s exercise but most importantly have fun through dance. My most recent project is ‘Jazzercise’ . It is a new upbeat adults dance class that combines a jazz style warm up to the latest chart releases, with some basic jazz technique and concludes with an entertaining, energetic routine to some much-loved show classics.
